Report on the April 19th rally in Logan Utah

Report on the April 19th rally.

By Mary DaSilva

The 50501 rally at the Cache County Historic courthouse today, April 19, 2025.

Peaceful protesting against the anti-democratic actions of the current regime.

I showed up at noon and there were a few people milling about, but no sign of any organizer. I walked in and was surrounded by about 20 people eagerly asking what to do. I told them I was not the organizer but I got them to start holding signs up on Main Street. Most didn’t have signs

Another instant community organizer showed up with a microphone and an excellent sound system.

We set up the microphone. Eventually, we had 60-70 people there. Still no organizer. We two ended up being the hosts and making announcements.

I had written a short speech about the constitution and Abrego Garcia. Cheers all around. Then we had an open mike and several speakers stepped forward

The crowd on the curbs were enthusiastic and the car traffic mostly honked approval.

I thanked them all for having courage to show up. Asked them to return on Friday afternoons and on May 3rd. Also asked them to help the Cache Dems in the Black & White Days parade in Richmond on May 17th.

WethepeopleCV.blogspot.com has a calendar of events

A woman showed up with a stack of blank poster boards and sharpies and facilitated sign making.

The weather was awesome. I was approached by multiple people asking how they can know what’s going on, how to participate more. Many were at their first ever rally. All ages. I  actually did not know how to connect them to activism except to follow Cache Dems who will announce all the rallies

It was a good turnout for a rally with no organizer and no promotion. Most people seemed to have a good time and want to do more.

There were no counter protesters. No police.
