The so-called big beautiful bill takes
money from you and gives it to greedy billionaires like Trump and his friends three key tax facts number one unless you're super rich this is a big ugly bill the richest onetenth of 1% of Americans would each get a tax break of while Americans making less than 60,000 would lose money just think how long itwould take you to save $389,000 now Trump and Republicans are tossing in some crumbs for the rest of us like no tax on tips what they're trying to do is distract us from how this bill would strip medical coverage from more than 10 million Americans kick 4 million Americans off food stamps reduce college student aid and drive up our energy bills now get this elon Musk iscampaigning against the bill not because he doesn't like the tax cuts he'd be getting but because he doesn't think it cuts the programs for the rest of us enough and even after those painful cuts the tax breaks for the rich would still add more than $2 trillion to the deficit over the next decade according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and you can be sure Republicans would then use the higher deficit to justify further cuts to Medicaid Medicare Social Security and other programs Americans rely on number two it's hard to fathom just how rich the super rich are the top 1% of Americans are hoarding 30% of all money in America but regularmillionaires are mere peasants compared to America's 17 super billionaires that's people hoarding more than $50 billion now that might sound like a lot but the average American working 40 hours a week could earn that much in a little over a million years just cut back on the lattes and takeout the world's five richest men have doubled their wealth since the pandemic while 5 billion of the rest of us on Earth have gotten poorer anyone who's playedMonopoly knows there's a certain point where a player gets so rich that there's no way they can lose and no one else can win that's where we are now elon Musk has lost $45 billion this year and is still the world's richest man when someone can lose 34,000 times what an average American makes in their lifetime and not even feel it none of the normal rules apply to them billionaires and superb billionaires can buy presidents and Supreme Court justices they can buy the media and use it to try to brainwash us into thinking they're job creators and that the wealth will trickle down if we just keep cutting their taxes they can even invent fake government agencies and rewrite the rules to benefit themselves at everyone else's expense number three if we taxed the rich America could do things again back when the rich paid their fair share Americacould afford to defeat global fascism send our veterans to college build an interstate highway system lead the world in medical research and put a man on the moon and we did all that while enjoying the largest expansion of the middle class in American history now forget going to the moon we can't even get astronauts off a space station without borrowing rockets from billionaires the Americans of the last century weren't smarter or better or greater than today we were able to do all that because we taxed the rich under RepublicanPresident Eisenhower the top marginal nobody's proposing anything close to that now but guess what back then the rich were still rich and the economyboomed we can choose to be that prosperous again we can fully fund Social Security expand health care beat diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's make college debt-free have paid family leave get pollution out of our air and water and tackle the climate crisis all of that is possible and more if we just tax the greedy billionaires i'm AlanPiper at Apiper 13 and Piperama follow Courier Newsroom for the facts you need
