I am calling to urge you to vote against the reconciliation bill and to roll back Trump’s terrible and illegal tariffs. Together these actions have raised taxes on all of us and will explode the deficit - things Republicans have always told us they did not believe in.
But your agenda is also causing all of us to “pay more and get less” for every day things including our health care; people to loses their jobs; and the economy to slow - all so you can give your rich donors a huge tax break. Your plans will weaken this great country and are an extraordinary betrayal of everything you promised during the campaign - which was to help people like me, not Elon Musk, get ahead.
Your plans are ones of sabotage, surrender and betrayal and I urge you to abandon them and to work with Democrats to find a better way.
Oppose H.R. 1: the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act"
In May, House Republicans passed their partisan budget reconciliation bill, H.R. 1 the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” that will increase budget deficits by $3.9 trillion to finance trillions in tax cuts for the wealthy. This bill would enact the largest transfer of wealth from the poor the rich in decades. ADDING 31 trillion dollar to the deficit in 30 years***(but Republics are pretending that their budget can treat prior expensive and disastrous Billionaire-bonus tax plan as a freebie)
Senate Republicans are now considering for a vote on the bill to satisfy strict Senate parliamentarian rules while also maintaining the House’s partisan wish list framework. These harmful provisions include:
- Deep cuts to Medicaid, including harsh new work requirements (most people already work if they can). 51,000 early DEATHS=almost all of Logan's residents
- Tripling the budget for ICE and Trump’s unpopular mass deportation effort. This creates a POLICE STATE in which MANY MORE more masked men in unmarked vehicles kidnap people and toss them into inhumane facilities that are not longer allowed to be inspected (illegally, of course). Google lack of food, water, medical care, legal representation, warms, beds, basics, human rights (neglect led to a stillbirth and a Canadian citizen's death-this is already documented). Many citizens have been illegally assaulted, injured, detained, and deported. Racial profiling is rampant and GOP does not even pretend to care about racial justice.
- Unprecedented funding cuts and expansion of work requirements for SNAP (This tactic uses paperwork to starve hungry children and adults)
- Illegal surveillance of Americans is promoted by the budget bill-which violates the rights to states to protect us from Artificial intelligence, and from that enormous authoritarian danger.
- E.g. (The United States of SurveillanceAs the dollar crashes and authoritarians unite, your every move is being watched, stored, and weaponized)
- Makes it MUCH easier for corporations to cheat Americans by Slashes to funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) by nearly 70%.

June 28, 2025: The Senate has voted 51-49 to invoke cloture for H.R. 1. The final Senate vote to pass the legislation is expected by early next week.
June 28, 2025: The Senate is expected to vote on the Republican revised budget reconciliation package the weekend of June 28th. Senate and House Republicans are racing to pass the legislation before Trump’s self imposed deadline of July 4th.
June 26, 2025: The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled that many of the Senate Republicans’ harmful provisions, including changes to federal worker pay and protections, student loan eligibility and repayment options, and defunding the CFPB, violate the Byrd rule. Senate Republicans must now revise their bill or disregard decades of legislative precedent and override the parliamentarian’s Byrd rulings.

- New Medicare eligibility rules and increased costs for dual Medicaid-Medicare enrollees
- Tripling the budget for ICE and Trump’s mass deportation effort
Authorization for the sale of public landsand increased incentives for fossil fuel production- Widespread rollback of clean energy tax incentives and climate protections (RESULT IS MORE WILDFIRE, pollution, and extreme heat, extinction, and worse)
- Unprecedented funding cuts and expansion of work requirements for SNAP (this tactic uses paperwork to starve hungry children and adults)
- Limits on a court’s ability to issue temporary restraining orders or preliminary injunctions (Violates the consitutiuon and the intent of our free country in order to make White House even more dangerous)
- Funding cuts to clinical care services at Planned Parenthood and gender-affirming care for Medicaid and CHIP recipients (This is blatant illegal anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination, and anti-woman policy and legislation. GOP wants to return to old days of maximum patriarchy and repressive society when women could not vote, had few opportunities or rights and lgbtq+ people were attacked and murdered more than now).
- Requiring states block all AI regulation for 10 years in order to receive federal broadband funding. DANGER!!!!!!We are already being surveilled by airlines and many others.
- A $150 billion increase to an already bloated Pentagon budget. POLICE STATE and misuse of our money
- A national private school voucher program that diverts funding from public schools and sets up a new tax shelter for the wealthy
- An increased excise tax on college endowments
- Widespread changes to student loan access, protections, and repayment options
- Harmful changes to federal worker pay, benefits, unions, and protections against unjust treatment (Terrorizing federal employees so that loyalists can take over the federal government)
- Slashes to funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) by nearly 70% : Maximum grift and corruption is encouraged by this party and White house.
- Elimination of a tax on gun silencer sales (More violent deaths seems to be the goal)
- Raising the debt limit by $5 trillion purely to fund tax cuts for the wealthy, adding trillions to the national debt. (Wreck the economy for decades to come)
Senate Republicans are aiming to pass their version of H.R. 1 by the July 4th holiday. Call your Senators and demand they oppose this destructive bill.
